When Dr. Robert Dowse was 4 years old his twin brother was hit by a car. Dr. Dowse saw this happen as his brother flew through the air and landed in bushes and became unconscious. Dr. Dowse looked to at his mother and said, “mommy I want to be a doctor so I can help people get better.” His brother recovered.
At age 15 Dr. Robert Dowse was a passenger in a car that was hit by a car that ran a stop sign. A family friend was thrown from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. During the time it took waiting for the ambulance to arrive, Dr. Dowse had thought that if he had medical training he could be helping instead of waiting. At that moment, he knew he wanted to become a doctor so he could always be prepared to help people.
Why Become a Pediatrician?
Dr. Dowse knew he was meant to be a pediatrician when after delivering his first baby who was struggling with respiratory distress he realized that he wanted to stay with the baby instead of back with the mother. He was president of his medical class. After graduating medical school he practiced as an active duty Pediatrician in the Air Force. After gaining extensive experience he knew that he needed to move his family to Cedar City. He has loved serving the people of Cedar City. In 2001 Dr. Dowse made the decision to open Premier Pediatrics with the primary goal in mind to provide the best Utah pediatrics care to this community and surrounding areas.
